Switzerland and Greece want to strengthen their cooperation to fight against tax fraud. On March 26th 2015, the two sides discussed the preparation including the automatic exchange of information, whose introduction is planned for 2017/2018.
Before the implementation of the automatic exchange of information, it would make sense that taxpayers have the opportunity to regularize their situation with the authorities on untaxed assets in the past, as several countries of the European Union have already done. Switzerland is ready to cooperate with Greece so that a solution can be found quickly for suitable taxation and to prevent capital flight to non-cooperative financial centers.
The constructive and factual discussion allowed both parties to inform each other about the latest developments and deepen the dialogue. It was agreed to continue discussions in the coming weeks.
